Jon and Kerry took over The Red Lion in 2010. Having seen it through a fairly extensive refurbishment we now invite you to enjoy a traditional village pub that can offer everything you might expect and, hopefully, a bit more.
The traditional two-bar layout means that you can enjoy pursuits such as darts, skittles and pool in a friendly and bright bar, or relax in comfortable seats and enjoy a pleasant conversation in our cosy lounge. The patio and garden at the rear of the pub provides a relaxed area for al-fresco dining or a cooling drink on a warm day, while the lawned area and childrens’ toys will engage younger visitors, so their parents can get the most out of their visit.

Our philosophy is that quality is paramount and this applies especially to the food and drink we serve. We prefer a smaller menu to one that would require us to stock frozen mass-produced dishes, so everything is bought from local suppliers where possible and the dishes are ‘home-made’ and cooked to order.
Similarly, we take real pride in our Cask Marque Accredited Real Ale, the standard of our other draught and bottled drinks, and our delicious coffee.

For many years the Red Lion in Bozeat has been a significant music venue in the area and we have been happy to continue this tradition, whilst extending the choice of music available and thereby broadening the appeal.
So, pop in during the day for lunch or even just a great cup of coffee; bring the kids at the weekend and let them play in the enclosed garden and feed the rabbits while you enjoy a sandwich on the patio; then pop back once the babysitter is settled in to enjoy a meal with friends and stay for great live music in a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.

If you live in or around the village, we are here to meet your needs, so if there is something we can do to help (e.g. help with a charitable event, provide a meeting place, be a venue for a party or celebration) then let us know – we will do all we can to help.

If you are coming to the Red Lion from further afield, rest assured we will do all we can to make your visit as great as you could hope for. Great food, superb beer, friendly welcoming staff and a lively atmosphere will all combine to make your visit memorable.

We look forward to seeing you.

Dining
‘Homemade’ at The Red Lion means just that. Our preference is to make each dish on the menu ourselves from locally sourced ingredients. Notable exceptions however, are the local Brixworth Pate and the fabulous Roskilly’s Cornish Ice Cream. Enjoy a high quality, freshly prepared meal complemented by our superbly kept Cask Ale or a glass of something from our carefully chosen Wine List. Whether you want a light lunch with friends or colleagues, a romantic three course dinner for two or a vibrant evening meal finished off with great Live Music, we can offer the perfect venue.
The Garden
We’ve opened up the patio and garden at the back of the pub creating a great space to dine al-fresco (when the British weather allows) and for the kids to play. Friendly dogs on leads are welcome in the garden.

Christmas!
We’re currently planning our Christmas Party Menus and will keep you posted. Why not book on one of the evenings when we have a band playing and make a real night of it!

The Bar
Unlike many pubs which serve food, we’ve kept the traditional pub attractions too. Enjoy a game of skittles, pool or darts with friends, be it relaxed or with a healthy edge of competition.
As well as the pub games, visitors to the bar can join in the friendly and irreverent banter with topics under discussion ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous.

A large screen TV in the bar means, where available, sporting events can be watched with friends. Currently, Sky’s pricing for public houses precludes events not available on terrestrial TV – but this is kept under constant review in the (somewhat forlorn) hope that things will change.

Recently awarded Cask Marque accreditation, we are very proud of the standard of our real ales. Rather than offering a too-wide range that would result in cask ales losing quality through being “on” too long, we serve Greene King IPA and Timothy Taylor Landlord alongside a Guest Ale that changes regularly. We don’t neglect our keg beers either. Rigorous standards are enforced to ensure that, whatever your preference, your expectation of a high quality product, well served, will be met.

Live Music
We have live music every Friday and are planning a full diary of entertainment for Saturdays too. The tradition on Fridays is mostly Rock, but this ranges from Indie bands playing current hits to old favourites playing Classic Rock covers, with some original tracks from time to time too. Saturdays will bring more variety, with Reggae, Soul, more ‘mainstream’ Cover Bands, Disco and Karaoke. We have some excellent bands at The Red Lion, there’s something for everyone.

Open Mic Night
Look out for these evenings (usually the second Thursday of the month) if you fancy showing us what you’ve got or just want to sit back and enjoy some great local talent. A vibrant and varied music experience where you might find something in this week’s top ten followed by a classic Simon & Garfunkle track.

Pub Quiz
On the last Thursday of each month teams of up to six can compete in our General Knowledge Quiz. Raising funds for local charities, it’s a win-win formula! Dine with us before you play and we’ll pay for your quiz entry and give you a complimentary strip of raffle tickets each.

Teams / Sports / Meetings
We are pleased to continue to support our Pool, Skittles, Darts, Crib and Football Teams. There are various groups that meet at the pub – sometimes having a meal as part of the proceedings and sometimes just using the space as a convenient place to meet and talk. We are happy to organise outings where appropriate. For example, we arranged trips to the Heineken Cup quarter and semi-finals in 2011 to support Northampton Saints. If there’s something you’d like to go to let us know and we’ll see if there’s enough interest for a pub outing.

Weddings, Funerals, Meetings & Parties
We would love to cater for your special event, and can offer various options to suit the occasion and to work within your budget. The Restaurant and/or Garden are available for Private Functions.
